SpaceXAI Launches Grok 4.5, Its Smartest Model Yet
The company formerly known as xAI has launched Grok 4.5, its first model since rebranding and the first trained with help from AI coding firm Cursor.

A new name and a new model
SpaceXAI has launched Grok 4.5, the first model released since the company rebranded from xAI. It is also the first model the company trained with help from Cursor, the firm behind a popular AI coding assistant.
Built for coding and agents
The company says Grok 4.5 is its smartest model so far, built specifically to handle coding, agentic tasks and knowledge work. It is now the default model for the Grok Build coding agent.
Why the Cursor tie-up matters
Partnering with a coding specialist points to where the competition is heading. Rival labs are all racing to make models that can plan and carry out multi-step tasks on their own, not just answer single questions.
The bigger picture
Grok 4.5 lands in a crowded week for AI launches, with several labs shipping upgrades at once. The pace shows how quickly the field is moving and how hard companies are pushing to stay ahead.
